"Tell Me Your Story," 2006

Make History Come Alive: Use Oral History!!!
* Students interview older women about their lives and migration to Long Beach or Southern California. Then each student writes an essay about the storytellers' experience.
* The program meets the Content Standards in Social Studies/History, English, and Geography while celebrating women's history month.
*Brings history to life through the stories of older family and friends. Illustrates that individuals make a difference. Makes learning creative and fun.
* Open to students in grades 3-12, college students and adults.
*Entry Deadline February 26, 2006
* Pick up entry packets at the HSLB or Download it from the link on this page.
* Some essays will be selected for presentation at an event in April and publication in a book. All essays will be archived at the HSLB, and some will be published in the Historical Society newsletter
